Sophie Sitar is an associate at MELD Divorce and Family Law, where she handles various family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and more. Sophie has dedicated her career to working with families and is committed to being an empathetic and holistic advocate for all her clients’ needs.

Sophie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University in 2018. After college, Sophie worked at a boutique family law firm in Bangalore, India where she worked on cases involving family-run business owners, sexual assault survivors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and minors seeking emancipation. Thereafter, Sophie attended Rutgers Law School and Rutgers School of Social Work where she obtained a dual degree in 2023, with a certificate in Interpersonal Violence and Trauma. During her time at Rutgers, Sophie worked with families who sought various services ranging from domestic violence support, mediation, estate planning documents, tax appraisals, elder abuse (financial exploitation), and structural family therapy. After law school, Sophie clerked for the Honorable Philip J. Degnan, J.S.C. at the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division — Family Part in Essex County.

Sophie loves to travel, spend time at the Jersey Shore with her family, take walks with her feisty French Bulldog, Maisy, and go to the movies with friends.
